Student grown food to feed those in need

Our Nobilitas Year 9 students learn about their impact on the world and this year have created a vegetable garden. During lockdown the garden was bountiful in producing delicious spinach.

Spinach pies donated to Reaching Out to Inner West

Our Social Justice Team and Food Tech Department used the student grown spinach to bake spinach pies and donated these to Reaching Out in the Inner West. This is a local non-for-profit organisation that relies solely on community support for the benevolent work they do. They provide home cooked vegetarian meals, non-perishable food items, clothing, blankets and sleeping bags to people experiencing homelessness or generally struggling. The charity has been operating for over 15 years and the increase in demand for food has sadly never been greater.

St Mary’s College has supported this charity in 2021, preparing and donating meals on a regular basis during onsite learning.

Our students’ social justice action makes for a better world for all.
