Our College community gathered this morning for the Reconciliation Assembly to reflect and learn more about the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We were very fortunate to have keynote speaker Courtney Ugle who is a proud Noongar woman from Bunbury in the South West of Western Australia. She shared her moving and personal story of losing both her parents in tragic circumstances as a young child, in an environment of domestic violence. Her story of struggle and resilience that has forged her career in women's AFL, currently in the VFLW league playing for the Essendon Bombers was a true inspiration.
Ugle’s speech was motivating and gave insights into First Nations Peoples and what students can do to assist the reconciliation process. Hers was a story of overcoming adversity and social justice, and her words will remain in our hearts and minds.
